Just stumbled upon this movie flipping around new releases. A slow burn supernatural thriller that leans into atmosphere over cheap shocks. It's based on a Venezuelan legend like the BoogeyMan. Different than your typical genre entry. I totally forgot about Diane Guerrero from Orange Is The New Black but she's great in this. The Whistler is definitely worth a watch.

Long, lingering shots, long, drawling dialogue, bland, uncatching tension. This is a pretty movie, for sure. The visuals are gorgeous, but there is no substance, as the tension is simply missing, the characters (while not utterly unforgettable) replaceable, and the narrative halting.
